Eco-Processed Pozzolan (EPP) is a high-quality cement replacement material manufactured from the calcination of pozzolanic minerals utilised in the palm oil industry.
EcoOils EPP is a quality-assured calcined natural pozzolana, making it an ideal cement substitute for ready-mixed, precast concrete, and building material products.
EPP originates from bleaching earth, a montmorillonite type used in the palm oil industry. It is incorporated in the refining process to convert crude palm oil into refined, bleached, and deodorized palm oil. Through our parent company's proprietary technology, spent bleaching earth is extracted, refined, and calcined via heat treatment, creating Eco-Processed Pozzolan. EPP is a SIRIM-certified processed material that is not classified as scheduled waste.
Ettringite - The reaction of tricalcium aluminate in Portland cement with sulfate ions in the presence of [Ca(OH)2] forms a new hydrate occupying a larger volume than existing particles. Larger ettringite causes internal stress in hardened concrete, leading to cracks. Lower [Ca(OH)2] content and reduced permeability with EPP usage significantly increase sulphate attack resistance.
Chloride Ingress - The denser cement paste with EPP reduces chloride ion penetration that can corrode steel reinforcements.
Alkali-Silica Reaction (ASR) - Some aggregates contain reactive silica that reacts with hydroxyl ions in concrete's pore water. This reaction produces an expanding gel that can cause extensive cracking as internal pressure increases. Using EPP mitigates this with lower [Ca(OH)2] content and reduced pores in concrete.
Heat of Hydration - EPP usage substantially reduces thermal cracking and shrinkage associated with heat released from exothermic cement hydration reactions.
Surface Finish - The denser paste resulting from EPP usage reduces pores and improves surface finish.
Quality Control and Monitoring - EPP is sold directly by EcoOils, ensuring product consistency and accountability, unlike other cement replacement materials traded by intermediaries.
Cost-Effective - EPP's lower density allows for a higher yield in concrete mix, requiring less consumption compared to other cement replacement materials.
Processed Material Classification - EPP is manufactured using EcoOil's proprietary technology, calcinating the pozzolanic material and classifying it as a processed material.
Plant Locations - Our plants are strategically distributed across the country to serve customers nationwide.

Established in 2004, the EcoOils Group has been dedicated to creating environmentally responsible products derived from various waste streams. Harnessing innovative recycling technologies, EcoOils aims to minimize waste entering landfills and generate spent bleaching earth oil, a globally acknowledged biofuel feedstock.
Established more than 40 years ago, EcoOils is a regional leading waste oil manufacturer. EcoOils distinguishes itself by deploying cutting-edge recycling technology to divert waste away from landfills while simultaneously generating spent bleaching earth oil (SBEO) and diversifying to other globally recognized biofuels feedstock with ISCC certification. SBEO holds immense potential in the production of sustainable, low-carbon fuels.
